Blessing Day

Our beautiful baby Brianna, you are growing up so fast! I can't believe that you are already two months old! Today was such a special day. You looked so lovely in your little white dress, and your daddy gave you a beautiful blessing. We are so proud of you already. Imagine how proud we'll be when you can do more than sleep, eat, and smile! Not many babies are blessed on the same day as their cousin. You won't remember, but you were at her blessing too. We love you Pretty Lady!

So beautiful! We blessed Natalie on Sunday and I was lucky enough to get a smiling picture out of her on her blessing day too. The first one caught on camera.

Eli-isms

Working in the basement with dad and hearing several, "Who's your daddy?" from Cameron, "Who's your son?"

"Mom, why are you still fat? Is there another baby in there?"

"I'm going to cry forever, and it'll make an ocean and then I'll drown!"

"Mom, do you think there is anyone prettier than you?"

Today in a prayer.
Eli: "And thank you that daddy works hard and makes lots of money so that he can give it all to mommy.

"My favorite dentist is named Eli Manning!"

"Dad! Look What I found?! Shiver me timbers!"

Mom: "Ok, Eli."
Eli: "I'm not Eli! I'm a pirate, Danga. But you can call me sir. My middle name is Eli."

"When I get big, I'm gonna be a doctor and play in the NBA, and be Santa Claus!"

"Welcome to the new Eli!" (He had just gotten dressed for the day)

(Upon arrival at the park, where his friend Lilly was already playing)
"I have to go see if my Lilly loves me today!"

"Brianna has a spot on her face! Daddy will have to paint it!"
(Daddy has been touching up some spots on the wall recently)

Eli: "Mommy, why do you have money?"
Mommy: "Well, daddy goes to work to make money and then mommy and daddy share it."
Eli: "I need to get married so I'll have money."
Daddy, listening in from the next room: "Gold digger!"

"Daddy, you're a nice guy, but..."
(no matter the coaxing he would not finish this sentence)

Eli: "You're my mom. Not my friend!"
Mom: "Aww. Can't I be your friend too?"
Eli: "Yeah, but just a little bit friend. Not big friend."

Eli: "I want a drink."
Mom: "You can't drink that because you just put playdough in it."
Eli: "Why did I do that?"
Mom: "I don't know. You'll have to ask yourself that question."
Eli: (looking down at his own chest) "Why did I do that?"

Mom: "Can I have a hug?"
Eli: "No."
Mom: "Why not?"
Eli: "Because that's what you get for Christmas!"
Mom: "So I don't get any hugs until Christmas?!"
Eli: "Yup!"

"Did you see that? That was funny! Post it on your blog!"

Dad: "The Miami heat play tonight!"
Eli: "No daddy, it's My-ami heat! Not yours!"

(After flushing the potty)
"Bye-bye poopoo! I hope you find what you're looking for!"

Mom: "Eli today we are going to get a Christmas tree and then we can decorate it and put lights on it!"
Eli: "Yeah! And then we can put my Lightning McQueen light on it!" (He has a Lightning McQueen night light)
Mom: "Really?"
Eli: "Nope. I'm just teasing."

(After watching Veggie Tales)
"Mom! You know what the Bible says? It Says, 'Don't get stuck in the sink!'"

"Row. Row. Row your boat, gently down the stream! Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life's a spider dream!"

(Talking about Trick-or-Treating)
"I'll knock on the door and say, 'Trick-or-Treat' and they'll give me a card for a hundred bucks!"

Eli: "What's this?" (pointing to his ribs)
Mom: "Those are your ribs."
Eli: "Ribs?"
Mom: "They protect your heart and your lungs."
Next Day, Eli: "What's this?" (pointing to his ribs)
Mom: "Your ribs."
Eli: "I have a valentine in there!"

Eli: "If I get flushed down the potty, you get another boy."
Dad: "What will we name him?"
Eli: "Other Eli."
(Getting flushed down the potty has been a recurring theme of late)

Mom: "You Betcha!"
Eli: "My Betcha!"
Mom: "No, it's 'You Betcha!'"
Eli: "Yeah.... My Betcha!"

"Lilly hit me without provocation!" (Lilly is a little girl in nursery)

"Oh no I'm falling! I'm falling!" Pause...thinking. "If Eli falls in the potty I'll get flushed down!" Pause...thinking. "If I get flushed down I'll get peepee all over me!"

"Here's the deal! You clean up all my toys, we can play some more!"

(Eli has learned that sometimes when mom says no, dad says yes. Hence this conversation)
Mom: "Eli, don't pick your nose."
Eli, yelling to dad in the other room: "Dad! I want to pick my nose!"
Dad: "Ok!"

Mom: "Eli, we're going to Las Vegas today to pick up grandma from the airport."
Eli: "Eli follow you to Las Vegas."
(After a series of questions I discovered that by following me to Las Vegas he meant riding behind me in the car seat.)
Mom: "Ok. Can Brianna come too?"
Eli: "Yup!" Pause..., "Brianna walk on the road!"

After hurting himself on the chair:
Mom: "Eli how did you hurt yourself?"
Eli: "On purpose!"

"I want to drive on the clean road"
(You know, as opposed to the dirty road a.k.a. dirt road)

"Eli go pee-pee in potty get a GIFT CARD!"

While getting Ready for church on Sunday:
Eli: "Mommy's pretty!"
Mom: "Thanks Eli!"
Eli: "Potty's pretty too!"

Mom: "I need to change Brianna's diaper."
Eli: "Change Mommy's diaper!"
Mom: "I don't have a diaper."
Eli: "Daddy Stinks! .... BAD!"
