Blessing Day

Our beautiful baby Brianna, you are growing up so fast! I can't believe that you are already two months old! Today was such a special day. You looked so lovely in your little white dress, and your daddy gave you a beautiful blessing. We are so proud of you already. Imagine how proud we'll be when you can do more than sleep, eat, and smile! Not many babies are blessed on the same day as their cousin. You won't remember, but you were at her blessing too. We love you Pretty Lady!

Brianna and Rachel

A Picture Post

The Fam Hiking in Snow Canyon.
Left to Right: Adam, Crystal, Me (Brianna is in the sleepy wrap), Nathan, Eli, Cameron.

Eli with Uncle Nathan.

 Throwing rocks off the cliff.

Drinking from his new Lightning McQueen Canteen.

Don't worry Crystal! Adam will save you!

Look closely at the last two pictures. Notice anything?
The rock actually went behind Nathan's head, although it looks like it hits him.

This is inside a lava tube. I was further in where everyone else was, but Brianna was getting fussy so I started to get out when Cameron said, "Wait pictures!"

Hiking with the Fam in Zion National Park.

Apparently Brianna liked the hike too.

Hmmm.... A male model as a possible career choice?

Hiking in the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve.

 This is Elephant Arch.

Do you see Scott way up there?

Eli picking flowers

Cousins Eli and Natalie pooped out from a long hike

Taking a bubble bath with cousin Avery. This was the funnest EVER! What a great idea Aunt Holly.

This kind of sums up their relationship. Eli was trying hard to make friends with his cousin Natalie, but she was a little afraid of him. He kept trying to get her to play with him so he would grab her hand and take her to his room to show her his toys. She would start to cry so he would give her a hug which would scare her even more. She would start to back away and then fall and cry even louder. Although once he did actually push her. I think it was because he was frustrated that his hug didn't make her stop crying.

The Busy Month of April

The month of April was incredibly busy. So, be prepared for a LONG post to get up to date on the life of the Rognans.
  • April 1: Distressed because the lock on our loan would end the next day and we didn't have our Certificate of Occupancy (C.O.) yet.
  • April 2: Received C.O. and hurriedly turned in all of the paperwork to close our loan. Usually it takes two or three days to close but we were hoping that the bank would have pity on us and let us keep our 4.875% interest rate.
  • April 2-5: Cameron's family (Mother, Father, 2 Sisters, and Brother-in-law) came for a visit.
  • April 3: Cameron's 31st birthday.
  • April 3: Moved into our house. This would normally not happen until after closing on our loan (since the house technically wasn't ours yet), but we had it in our contract that we could move in and pay rent as soon as we had the C.O. Since rent was only $16.50 a day this was a VERY good deal.
  • April 3-4: General Conference
  • April 3-present: Trying to get the house organized.
  • April 4: Had Cameron's favorite cheesecake and sang happy birthday to him. He told me not to get him a gift this year because his gift was the house (I better get a REALLY good gift for my birthday!)
  • April 5: Found out the bank would not let us keep our lock. We lost the good interest rate. Waiting to see what the new interest rate would be.
  • April 6: 6 week postpartum doctor appointment.
  • April 6-8: Evenings spent cleaning out our old apartment.
  • April 8: Received the numbers from the bank. Our interest rate is 5.25%; however, the bank, knowing how disappointed we would be, gave us a discount on the closing costs.
  • April 9: Signed our lives away to the bank.
  • April 9: Bought a washer and dryer.
  • April 9-17: My family comes for a visit during their break from school (2 brothers and a sister).
  • April 9-17: Free slave labor! ;)
  • April 10: Our first time attending our new ward.
  • April 13: Our loan came through. The house is ours!
  • April 13-14: Hurriedly finish taxes. Most of it was already done. We were waiting until we closed on the house so that we could get the federal housing credit.
  • April 15: Took my family hiking in Snow Canyon.
  • April 16: Another brother joins the family visit.
  • April 17: Took my family hiking in Zion National Park courtesy of National Park Week (All of the national parks had free admission that week).
  • April 22-23: More family visiting (My sister, brother, brother-in-law, and two nieces).
  • April 23: Doctor Appointment for Brianna with the specialist from Salt Lake City (her foot is a little crooked but all is well and it should heal on it's own).
  • April 23: Took my family hiking in the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve
  • April 23: Drove to Salt Lake City to visit Cameron's family.
  • April 25: Rachel's baby blessing (niece).
  • April 25: Brianna's baby blessing
  • April 25: Drove home.

Thanks Eli...

While getting Ready for church on Sunday:
Eli: "Mommy's pretty!"
Me: "Thanks Eli!"
Eli: "Potty's pretty too!"
All of a sudden I didn't feel nearly as complimented.

Another day:
Me: "I need to change Brianna's diaper."
Eli: "Change Mommy's diaper!"
Me: "I don't have a diaper."
Eli: "Daddy Stinks! .... BAD!"

The Birthday Cake

As some of you may remember, I like to make special birthday cakes. This year Eli has been crazy about Thomas the Train. He even sleeps with a little plastic engine in his bed! So of course his cake was a Thomas cake.

It didn't turn out quite like I imagined. For one thing I accidentally put too much black food coloring in the gray for his face, and for some reason it came out looking purple instead. But overall, I'm pleased with it!

A couple of other pictures while I'm posting:

Happy Birthday Eli!

I can't believe it is your second birthday! It doesn't seem possible that you could be that old already. It seems like only yesterday you were a helpless little infant in my arms. I guess time flies when you are having fun! And oh what fun we've had. You make your daddy and I laugh every day with your smiles and fun games. Timber and Tag being your favorites and dancing being mine. You are so smart! You never cease to impress (and sometimes embarrass) with the words you know and the observations you make. Brianna is lucky to have such a wonderful big brother. I was sure that you would be ultra-jealous when she was born and wouldn't like her at all. Instead, you like to give her hugs and kisses. Sometimes you'll even share Teddy with her. Still, I know it has been a big adjustment not getting as much attention as you are used to. We love you so much and are so proud of you!

More Pictures!

Brianna was very cooperative for a photo shoot last night.

I couldn't resist getting this flower head-band from Kid to Kid.

Of course, Eli wanted to be part of the action as well.

Yaay! She has my dimples!

I think he likes her!

This one is from a few days ago, but still cute!
